How I View Social Media
Blogger: While it's primary intention is created for writing, I have seen it used for pictures on rare occasions. I would compare Blogger to a writer's notebook, because that's really what it is. A place for all of us to sketch our ideas and for the world to preview them for us.
Twitter: A place to find updates on stuff... On stuff that you actually care about being updated on.
Sports, news, celebrities, and business, these are the uses I think Twitter is created for. However, I often see it as this:
Father: "Stevie, president Obama is sending me messages asking if I'll come meet with him again."
Me: "Mhmm, that's nice Dad." (Continues to click on comics on xkcd)
Father: "I have 20,000 followers on Twitter."
Me: "Dad, there's absolutely no way they all actually read the things you post."
Father: "Of course they do! They love the Pat Parris Daily."
(At which point I shake my head and allow him to continue to live in his delusional Twitterpated world.)
Facebook:
.
..
...
....
.....
THE BEAST.
Ahahaha, I actually don't despise Facebook, even if I have chosen not to have one up until this point. It seems like a pretty good idea for a social network... But let's be honest here, the primary purpose of Facebook is to stalk other people, no? I hear it from people all the time, they call it "Facebook Stalking" I personally believe it needs a more creative title so I have bestowed it with "Synthetic Stalkery." Why? Well, it just truly doesn't compare to some good ol' hanging-off-the-roof-of-your-friend's-house stalking.
It just doesn't. Facebook is a pretty neat idea though, let's throw in all your pictures, connect with thousands of people because almost everyone has one. You now know who you know.
Huzzah for Facebooking. Teehee. (That's actually kinda freaky^)
Myspace:
Oh gosh. Myspace. Myspace was actually before my "time," but I was carefully instructed it was a very bad place. Only later did I discover it also held a large amount of musicians pages. Now that's what I view Myspace as, a place where musicians make pages for their band. That's about it.
Google+: Umm... Glorious brilliance, 'nough said.
As for the rest. I honestly don't even care about them. They're beyond my sphere of media. It's a scientifically fact that people who use Google+ and Blogger are smarter(not really). Sigh. Become smarter individuals, use Google+ and Blogger.
