Yes, Christmas Eve. The day in which some get together with family, others run about doing last minute shopping and wrapping, and others may even open a present or two under the beautiful lights of the Christmas tree.
Christmas is called "the most wonderful time of the year" and it's hard to disagree. It means the celebration of the birth of my dearest savior. Jesus. I love the lights, the candy, the smell of cookies being baked, the laughs, the decorations on the Christmas tree, the presents, and the music. However, if I keep my focus fixed, my attention should all upon Christ. He came down in human form on Christmas day as a child. Have you ever thought about that? A baby, helpless and vulnerable against the cruel tide of the world. Not only did he come down, he was not even delivered by angels. There was no great fire in the sky, there was no chariot delivering the Son of God to us. No, he was born. Many times I can forget the significance of that word born. It means that he went through all the blood, sweat, and tears of a human birth. Deliveries aren't pretty today, back then they were all the worse. Not to mention the fact that it was in the grimiest of places, a stable.
Does it humble you to see the circumstances in which our God presented himself? It should. How marvelous a savior to come down to save mankind. This shows the humility of God, despite all of his endless glory and majestic power. Why should he humble himself for us? Love. We cannot explain love and that is what makes it a fantastic description of God's reason to save us. Inexplicable.
Christmas Eve. The day before our savior's birth (or at the very least the celebration of it). Be sure to set time aside particularly to worship and adore the savior and prepare your hearts for the joy that comes with Christmas. Remember the savior. Remember who he is and what he's done.
Christmas Eve
Remember his love.
